WhatsApp For iOS: Edit Message Feature with Dedicated Alerts Coming Soon

For a while now, WhatsApp has been working on an edit message feature that lets users edit sent messages with the 'edited' label displayed as the 'this message was deleted' text shows. The feature is expected to arrive on iOS earlier than Android users. Here are what you should expect.

WhatsApp For iOS Edit Message

The report was shared by WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp tracker platform. They confirmed that the edit message feature for iOS beta testers is to be rolled out in a "future update of the app." WhatsApp for iOS 23.6.0.74 beta version on the TestFlight app is the first to receive the new dedicated alert for edited messages.

The updated preview from the report, it shows a dedicated alert that notifies all contacts or group members that a message was edited. It is likely that this feature will roll out to all versions of WhatsApp once the incompatible versions have expired and people will then be urged to update to the latest version.

However, there is a time limit in which messages can be edited just as the delete message has a daily limit. For editing WhatsApp limits, you will have up to 15 minutes to edit a text after it has been sent. After editing within the timeframe, the message will then change with the label 'edited' beside it.

In other developments, WhatsApp is working on a dedicated Audio Chat feature that will appear within the user's conversation window. The information regarding how this will work is limited, however, it has been spotted on WhatsApp for Android beta and more information will surface soon.
