How to Connect iCloud Mail & Calendar to ChatGPT
iPhone and Mac users have been waiting for this: ChatGPT can now connect to iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar. OpenAI announced the feature on October 27, 2026, and it's available on all ChatGPT plans, including the free plan. Once connected, you can ask ChatGPT to find an old email, summarise your inbox, draft a reply, or check your schedule and add events, all from one chat.
This step-by-step guide shows you how to connect iCloud Mail and Calendar to ChatGPT, including how to create the Apple app-specific password you need, what ChatGPT can and can't do with your iCloud account, and how to fix common connection problems.
Quick answer
- Create an app-specific password for your Apple Account.
- In ChatGPT, open Settings > Plugins, choose iCloud Mail or iCloud Calendar, and sign in using that app-specific password.
- Connect Mail and Calendar separately. Each needs its own sign-in.
What the ChatGPT iCloud Integration Can Do
| iCloud Mail | Search and read emails, manage messages and drafts, send emails, and look up your iCloud contacts. |
| iCloud Calendar | Read your events, create new ones, update existing events, and find a free time slot for a meeting. |
| Plans | All ChatGPT plans, including Free |
| Where it works | ChatGPT on the web, desktop app and iPhone (iOS) app |
| Announced | October 27, 2026 |
Before this, ChatGPT could only connect to Google and Microsoft services such as Gmail and Google Calendar. Now Apple users get the same convenience.
What You Need
- A ChatGPT account (any plan).
- An Apple Account with two-factor authentication turned on, which Apple requires for app-specific passwords.
- An iCloud email address ending in @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com. Gmail or Outlook accounts you've added to the Apple Mail app aren't included.
Step 1: Create an Apple App-Specific Password
ChatGPT doesn't use your main Apple password. Instead, you create a special password just for it, which you can cancel at any time.
- Go to account.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.
- Open Sign-In and Security, then App-Specific Passwords.
- Click Generate an app-specific password (or the + button).
- Give it a name you'll recognise, such as ChatGPT.
- Copy the password Apple shows you. You'll paste it into ChatGPT in the next step.
Step 2: Connect iCloud Mail to ChatGPT
- Open ChatGPT on the web, desktop or iPhone app.
- Go to Settings > Plugins.
- Select iCloud Mail and choose to connect.
- Enter your iCloud email address and paste the app-specific password.
- Review the permissions and confirm.
Step 3: Connect iCloud Calendar to ChatGPT
- Back in Settings > Plugins, select iCloud Calendar.
- Sign in with your primary Apple Account email and an app-specific password. You can generate a separate one for Calendar so you can cancel each independently.
- Confirm the permissions.
Calendar covers everything in iCloud Calendar, including events you see in the iPhone Calendar app and in third-party calendar apps that sync with iCloud.
Useful Things to Ask ChatGPT
- "Find the email from my landlord about the rent last month."
- "Summarise the unread emails in my inbox from today."
- "Draft a polite reply saying I'll send the documents on Friday."
- "What do I have on my calendar tomorrow?"
- "Find a free hour next week and add a meeting with Tolu."
- "Move my dentist appointment to Thursday at 3pm."
Tip: always read a draft before you let ChatGPT send it, and double-check any event it creates or changes.
iCloud Mail or Calendar Not Working in ChatGPT? Fixes
| Sign-in fails | Make sure you used an app-specific password, not your normal Apple password, and that there are no extra spaces. |
| Can't create an app-specific password | Turn on two-factor authentication for your Apple Account first. |
| Mail connects, Calendar doesn't | Calendar uses your primary Apple Account email, which may differ from your iCloud email address. |
| Some emails missing | Only @icloud.com, @me.com and @mac.com mailboxes are supported. Gmail or Outlook added to Apple Mail aren't included. |
| Plugins option not showing | Update the ChatGPT app or refresh the website. Workspace (business or school) accounts may have plugins disabled by an admin. |
Is It Safe to Connect iCloud to ChatGPT?
- Your main Apple password stays private. ChatGPT only gets the app-specific password.
- You can revoke access anytime. Delete the app-specific password at account.apple.com, or disconnect the plugin in ChatGPT's settings.
- Check your data settings. Review ChatGPT's data controls to decide how your conversations are used.
- Be careful with sensitive emails, such as bank, medical or legal messages, and never let anyone else use your ChatGPT account.
How to Disconnect iCloud From ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Plugins, open iCloud Mail or iCloud Calendar and disconnect it.
- Then go to account.apple.com > Sign-In and Security > App-Specific Passwords and revoke the ChatGPT password.
