MTN 5G Network in Nigeria Officially Available: What to Expect

On August 23rd, 2022, MTN Nigeria unveiled the arrival of the 5G Network in the country on their Facebook page and other social media pages. Pre-orders have started for interested customers, here is what you should know about this new development.

Nigeria, known as the Giants of Africa will be among the few countries to experience and benefit from the latest internet connection known as 5G. Two days ago, the Telecommunication company made an announcement on their Facebook page letting followers know their ISP now supports the 5th generation mobile network.


On visiting MTN's official website for Nigeria through their shared link: https://www.mtn.ng/product/5g-router, you will be able to see their current 5G Router Pre-order plans and offers.


When a customer asked on their page if there will be a need to upgrade their current 4G sims to enjoy the new 5G connectivity, the page replied there will be no need that the migration will be automatic on 5G enabled devices. That being said, below contains such phones as;

MTN 5G Coverage areas include major cities in these states: Anambra, Borno, Delta, Edo, Abuja, Imo, Kano, Lagos, Rivers, and Oyo. These are the currently supported states to enjoy the newly unveiled 5G network in Nigeria for MTN.


The 5G router comes in three color options: Black, White, and Yellow, all priced at N50,000. The Telecommunication company promises its users faster performance compared to 3G & 4G networks, multiple device connections up to 32 devices to the Router, a Wide Wi-Fi connection range, and free 100GB data bonus on activation.
