Windows 12 to be Released in 2024 Amid New Microsoft Development Cycle

Microsoft will be switching to a new development schedule for Windows - its traditional three years cycle for a new major version of its operating system.

Windows 12

Windows 11 feature updates will also be slowed down due to this new development, however, the 22H2 update for Windows 11 is expected to arrive sometime in September or October.

Windows 11 was expected to get a new version codenamed 'Sun Valley 3', but that has been scraped to adopt this new schedule of the release of major Windows versions every three years. Going by this schedule, we can deduce the next Windows update will be Windows 12 and that will be released in 2024.

The latest version of Windows will get improved features rollout starting from Windows 11 version 22H2 (Sun Valley 2) which will bring all the features that were expected to be available on the scrapped 'Sun Valley 3'.

Regarding the Windows 2024 version, there is not much news except that it may be released in 2024 and that developers have dubbed this version as the 'Next Valley' client.
