WhatsApp Begins Roll Out of Recent Groups Contact-Based Search Feature
WhatsApp for Desktop has begun rolling out a new feature that lets anyone search for recent groups by entering their contact's name in the search field if they are in a common group. This might seem confusing, so let's discuss how it works.
This new feature works best for users managing or in multiple WhatsApp group chats. It adds more convenience in searching for groups just by using the names of contacts who are already in the same group chats.
So memorizing the group names or scrolling through the message list is no longer needed, nor will it be hard to search/find a group with an obscure name, or with special characters like $#. However, this feature is currently visible only to some users, it is expected to reach other users in the coming days.
The feature is available only on WhatsApp's desktop version 2.2245.9 and above, so users will have to download the latest version from WhatsApp's official website or via Microsoft Store for Windows PC.
To update via Windows Store, tap here, choose Download for Windows and you will be taken to the Microsoft Store application on your computer. Tap on Update or Get Now if you're new, then it will update/download on your computer.
