Among the new features are StandBy mode, the Journal app, and NameDrop, an AirDrop feature that simplifies sharing contacts with other iPhone users. Notably, the iOS 17 beta 2 introduces an improved Software Update interface within the Settings application.

According to a report from 9to5Mac, the latest beta version includes a significant update for Siri commands. Users can now easily specify the messaging app they prefer to use, simply by instructing the virtual assistant, eliminating the need for additional commands.

Prior to iOS 17, when users invoked the send a message command, Siri would automatically utilize Apple's own Messages app. However, with the iOS 17 beta 2 update, users can effortlessly select any messaging application, including third-party options, to send their messages. This eliminates the necessity for longer commands such as 'send a message via WhatsApp' or 'send a message via Telegram.'

This feature is compatible with any third-party applications that integrate with Siri, such as WhatsApp and Telegram. Furthermore, users can modify the recipient's contact information or edit the message content directly within the virtual assistant's interface with a single tap.

Apple has also revamped the user interface of the Software Update sub-section within the Settings application, introducing a fresh design. Additionally, iOS 17 beta 2 enables users to initiate AirDrop quickly by simply tapping two iPhones together, as previously announced at WWDC 2023.

With iOS 17 beta 2, users gain control over data and settings in the dedicated section for the Fitness application. Furthermore, this beta version incorporates a slider control for seamless cross-fading between songs in Apple Music, enabling users to transition smoothly from one track to another.
