Samsung W24, Samsung W24 Flip Series Launch Date Announced: What to Expect

Samsung has officially announced that its W series launch event is set to take place on September 15 in China. In this upcoming event, the company is expected to unveil the Samsung W24 and Samsung W24 Flip, which are the successors to the Samsung W23 and Samsung W23 Flip, respectively.

These new additions to the W series are anticipated to be customized versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. It's worth noting that the design of the Chinese variants may closely resemble the models introduced in India, and there could be some hardware modifications incorporated.

Both the Samsung W24 and Samsung W24 Flip are expected to be rebranded versions of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, tailored specifically for the Chinese market. Unlike last year's Samsung W23 and W23 Flip, these new models are likely to remain exclusive to China and won't see a global release. Chinese variants of Samsung's foldable phones typically boast improved specifications compared to their global counterparts and feature unique design elements that cater to the Chinese market.

In comparison, the Samsung W23 series was introduced in October of the previous year, with the base model priced at CNY 15,999 (approximately Rs. 1,82,300) for the variant with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Samsung W23 Flip 5G, on the other hand, was priced at CNY 9,999 (roughly Rs. 1,13,900) for the sole configuration featuring 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Samsung had previously unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 during its Galaxy Unpacked event in July. These global versions of the foldable phones run on Android 13 with the One UI 5.1.1 interface layered on top. They feature Armor Aluminum frames and are powered by the custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy SoCs.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes with 12GB of RAM and a 4,400mAh battery supporting 25W wired fast charging. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 has 8GB of RAM and is equipped with a 3,700mAh battery that also supports 25W fast charging. Both models are rated IPX8 for water resistance.
