Instagram for Desktop now has a Multi-Story Carousal Redesign for Stories
If you make use of Instagram for Desktop, soon your interface for stories will be updated with the newly rolled carousel design. This new update makes it easier and convenient for viewing stories on the desktop just as it is on the mobile version. This new update shows a carousel of stories, this also includes clickable previous of the previous and next, you can refer to this blog homepage to see a similar feature added by us.
This new update is being rolled out to Windows and Mac users, it now is user-friendly, making it easier for you to keep track of your stories with an easier previous and continuous button. If you have Instagram for Desktop, you will be able to update the app on the Microsoft Store or Apple store, it will be rolled out to all users soon.
How does this work? Previously stories were like WhatsApp's current status viewing layout, you couldn't see a list of all stories by contact, but now Instagram stories have updated from that. You can see up to 5 total Instagram Stories on your desktop, the middle story automatically plays and moves to the next when it has been completed. You can quickly slipe to the left or right to view the previous or next respectively.
In Addition, it features a play and pause button, adding to that, you can easily access the volume increase and mute buttons. You will also be able to reply to stories directly as you do on Instagram Stories for Mobile. These will work swiftly on Computers and doesn't require much processor or RAM.
In conclusion, Instagram Story's update was done to provide a cleaner user experience for desktop users. This was also done on the same company's similar app - Facebook for Desktop, though this is done on a browser for PC since they ended support for the desktop version. As for now, you will have to wait till this is rolled out to you, always check the app store.
