Google Meet Video Conferencing Service Feature Improved Background Effects, and More
Google Meet will be coming with new features such as improved quality and performance for background effects which will be more precise. Here is what you should know about these cool updates.
Google announced in a blog post that the background effects are more precise with improved background and foreground separation for Google Meet users on the Web. Furthermore, Google says that they are offering support for cloud processing of real-time video effects on the app which will save battery and CPU while “optimizing effect quality.”
The main focus of these updates is to reduce the severity of the rough backgrounds that got washed off during a movement of an individual or when they did not look up to the mark.
Google says in the blog post that low-end or incompatible devices will be able to benefit more from the cloud processing support update. So with this being processed in the cloud, low-end devices will be able to use background effects in the best way possible.
Google added that "Meet automatically adjusts between device-based and cloud-based effect processing to offer the best possible experience." This will be able to save battery and up to 30% of the CPU. One of the effects which will be accessible for the cloud-based processing is the background blur and light adjustment.
Eligible devices will be able to get the Google Meet improved background and foreground separation. As for the cloud-based processing feature, that will be available to Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus customers, and Workspace Individual users on eligible devices in eligible countries.
As far as the availability is concerned, the improved background and foreground separation is available for all Google Meet users on eligible devices. The cloud-based processing feature is available to Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus customers, and Workspace Individual users on eligible devices in eligible countries only.
